Doe Deere: A new and exciting sound with the 80's in mind
IT'S OFFICIAL - the 80s are back. The era, which single-handedly blew a hole in the ozone layer, kept us up all night with visions of Freddy Krueger, and exposed us to a whole lot of bad denim. But it's not the mullets that fascinate modern-day youngsters; it's that fun, electronic music, which dominated airwaves 20 years ago, that's quickly finding its way into the nightclubs and hipsters' iPods today!
Smack in the middle of all this stands Doe Deere - a Soviet Russian-born, Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter and keyboardist. Having come to NYC at the age of 17 with dreams of becoming a musician, she played in several rock bands before launching a successful solo project of her own. In 2007, her home-recorded demo attracted attention of the producer and A&R Jimmy R Landry (Capitol/EMI), who immediately sensed potential in Doe's honey-glazed vocal delivery laid over whimsical, throbbing electro arrangements.
EP 'Supernatural' [2008], produced by Landry and co-produced by Deere, is a tantalizingly fresh collection of 5 radio-ready, dangerously danceable tracks. Doe's hook-laden tunes won over a loyal following and amassed over 80,000 profile views on MySpace. DJs from the US and Europe alike are adding her songs to their playlists.
So why the 80s? "I feel like I missed out on the biggest party of the century," explains Doe. "This record is an invitation to travel back in time and glance into the future, simultaneously - while dancing all the way!" - Contributed to Mentortainmenttv.com by Doe Deere
